Just a place to pile and share stuff.
Lotsa art, lotsa feminist stuff.
i find it funny that “i like big butts” has always been a well-liked song, but as soon as Nicki Minaj samples it and shows off her amazing ass in a video, suddenly OH MY GOD WHAT A SLUT PUT THAT AWAY
like, it’s okay for a guy to talk about how much he loves butts
but it’s not okay for women to love their own butts
funny how that works
So, there’s this girl. She’s tragically orphaned and richer than anyone on the planet. Every guy she meets falls in love with her, but in between torrid romances she rejects them all because she dedicated to what is Pure and Good. She has genius level intellect, Olympic-athelete level athletic ability and incredible good looks. She is consumed by terrible angst, but this only makes guys want her more. She has no superhuman abilities, yet she is more competent than her superhuman friends and defeats superhumans with ease. She has unshakably loyal friends and allies, despite the fact she treats them pretty badly. They fear and respect her, and defer to her orders. Everyone is obsessed with her, even her enemies are attracted to her. She can plan ahead for anything and she’s generally right with any conclusion she makes. People who defy her are inevitably wrong.
God, what a Mary Sue.
I just described Batman.
WILL AUTO-REBLOG FOREVER.
I’m dead serious. I’m not fishing for anyone’s compliments. That’s just how I really feel about myself. I think I’m “okay” looking though. But overall, I think I’m unattractive. There’s much more prettier and beautiful girls out there, that there’s too much that I can’t even count. Everything they do is better and cuter than what I do, even when they make silly faces or act stupid. I wish I was more attractive. I honestly wish I was one of those girls.
"talking about sexism or racism on Tumblr doesn’t solve anything"
really? because I am absolutely certain that I am a better, less bigoted person than I was a few years ago and that is most certainly due to the people I met and things I read on Tumblr
perhaps it doesn’t do anything for the worst of the worst but there are still plenty of people who do learn from impassioned Tumblr posts
Because racism and sexism are institutionalized problems, and more often than not do NOT look like openly racist and sexist asshole everybody avoids. In fact, good and sweet people can have those problems internalized without even knowing it. But most people can totally UNLEARN these views and behaviours if they educate themselves on those issues.
And I found that MOST people I’ve talked with about these issues are often surprised themselves on how ignorant some of their views were and admit that they were wrong and are willing to change their opinions.
So yeah, talking about sexism, homophobia, transphobia and racism on tumblr made me, and my closest family and friends a lot more aware and concious about these issues, and made us better people for it.
